About JSTS (Junior Science Talent Search) Exam:
JSTS is conducted by Science Branch, Directorate of Education, Delhi. Junior Science Talent Search Examination eligible for those students who are studying in Delhi/ New Delhi/ under NCT Delhi in class IX standard can participate in this, only from their school, not individually. Students who have scored minimum 65% marks or above in class VIII are eligible for JSTS examination.

The Junior Science Talent Search Examination (JSTS) is conducted separately in each state and union territories of India by the respective state education departments. It is based on the lines of the National Talent Search Scheme Examination (NTSE)/ National level Science Talent Search Exam (NSTSE). The first round of JSTS is written test.

Important Dates for JSTS 2013-14:

3.Issue of Admit Cards23 Dec, 2013 to 20 Jan, 2014
4.Exam Date for JSTS02 February, 2014

All the Heads of Schools are requested to depute some responsible person along with the authority letter to collect the Application Forms and other related materials form the Science Branch on all working days 10.30 AM to 3.30 PM except Saturday & Sunday.

Reservation:

Under this Scheme there is a provision of reservation.
  1. SC Category -15%
  2. ST Category 7.5% &
  3. Physically & Hearing challenged candidates 1% each.
No. of Scholarships: There are 150 scholarships for JSTSE per year.

Eligibility Criteria:

Any student of recognized school studying in Class IX in Govt. /Govt. Aided /Public /KV /Navodaya /NDMC and must have secured 65% marks in class VIII.

Pattern of Exam:

The written test is conducted in two parts - Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). All questions are multiple choice questions.
  1. The first part-Mental Ability Test is a 50 min test which tests the candidates’ knowledge of mental ability (GK, Current affairs & Reasoning). It is a 50 marks paper of 50 questions. There is no negative marking.

  2. The second part-Scholastic Aptitude Test is a 2 ½ hour paper that tests candidates’ knowledge of Maths and Science. There are about 50 questions in Maths and 100 questions in Science (each in Physics, Chemistry and Biology). There is total of 150 questions with 150 marks to answer within 150 minutes.

Examination Fee:

No examination fee is charged from students for appearing in this exam.

Application Procedure:

Application form must be downloaded from the official website: www.edudel.nic.in. Attested copy of Caste/PH certificate must be attached with the application form. Application form should be submitted in triplicate at the Science Branch by the Head of School (HOS) duly attested by HOS on working days in between 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Note:
  1. H.O.S. may note caste category cannot be changed after the submission of Application forms.
  2. Percentage of marks will be calculated as per grading system.
  3. Application Performa should be submitted in triplicate duly attested by HOS.
Declaration of Result:

The first round results come out usually in mid April and are uploaded at the Directorate of Education website under public Circulars (edudel.nic.in). There are about 150-155 students selected in the first level. For the second level candidates have to give an interview held usually in July.
