Children - Competitive Tests / Exams



1. IAIS (International Assessment for Indian Schools)
AKA (also known as) Macmillan or University of South of Wales, Australia Test
Subjects English, Computer Science, Math, Science
Classes 3-12

2. Asset testing
ASSESSMENT OF SCHOLASTIC SKILLS THROUGH EDUCATIONAL TESTING (ASSET)

Core Subjects: English, Maths and Science
Optional Subjects: Social Studies and Hindi
Based on the Indian curriculum (CBSE, ICSE and state boards)
Detailed Skill-wise feedback with customized letter for every student
Conducted in the school during school hours
Schools choose to take the test in summer (July-August) or winter (December)
Similar to IAIS. But supposed to be slightly easier.

3. Olympiads

Class Grade : From 1-12
Around October of every year
Subjects: Science, English, Mathematics, Computers.
Relatively easy compared to IAIS.

4. NTSE exam (National Talent Science Exam by Unified Council)

Class Grades : 2-12
Around Jan 31, 2010 ( depends on school)
Subjects:  In the 2nd and 3rd grade, they are on science and mathematics. Later more specialized subjects like chemistry, biology, physics, General Knowledge are offered.
Traditionally, supposed to be good  foundation for other tests offered after school: Exams like IIT-JEE, AIEEE, AFMC, AIIMS, GRE, GMAT, CAT etc.

5. STAR Test in California   ( In U.S, not in India)
Class Grade:  2-12
Only Indian students can participate in online practice.

NMMS (National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Exam)

National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship is meant for the students of VIII class to support them financially. To know about the application procedure and eligibility criteria for NMMS 2012-2013 please read the following article.


CERT, Gurgaon conduct National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme every year for the students presently studying in class VIII in Govt./Govt. Aided and Local Body Schools. NMMS 2012-2013 will be conducted at 21 centers all over Haryana.

Eligibility criteria: To apply for NMMS 2012-2011 candidate must have secured in class VII 55% marks for General Category and 50% for the Reserved Category in the session 2011-12.

The parental annual income of the applicant from all sources should not exceed Rs. 1,50,000/- for all categories of students during 2011-12.

Duly filled Application forms are to be collected and deposited at Directorate of Education,Science Branch,Behind Lady Shri Ram College, Lajpat Nagar-IV, New Delhi 110024 by the Head of concerned school and admit cards will be collected accordingly on any working day (Monday to Friday) at 10.30 A.M. to 3.30 P.M.

Application from can also be obtained from the NCERT website, will be accepted with the enclosure of format/performa-A issued by the Science Branch.

Last date to apply for NMMS 2012-2013 is 14.09.2012 (tentative)
